*Marketing through Social Networking Sites*
Social networking sites have been around on the Internet for a while
now. While some of us old timers thought that these networks sites
would be gone as quickly as they came, they are standing their ground.
Anyone who's anyone has a face page on more than one social networking
site.
Like I always say, if you can't beat them join them. You just have to
know how to use a social networking site to your benefit. Think of all
the people you could reach by posting on such a website. It would be a
shame to overlook this opportunity to make money online. The marketer
in me refuses to let that revenue go.
Tips for Marketing through Social Networking Sites
There are a few things you need to know about social networking sites
before you can begin marketing on them.
Create a professional face page for each networking site that you
join. Remember that anyone can find your networking page by putting
your name in the search. You never know who could be looking. Old
girlfriends, your parents, infantry buddys or your boss. Make sure
your face page is professional and tasteful.
Don't send bulk messages to every member on the social networking
site. This tactic doesn't even earn you friends or sales. It may be
decamped off of the site because it is severely frowned upon.
Send to friend requests to people with similar interests. Invite them
to look at your page where they can find information about your
website and the products you're promoting.
Leave comments on other people's pages without spamming them. Develop
friendships and let your links do the talking as far as the marketing
is concerned.
Article marketing on social networking sites is an effective way to
increase traffic flow to your website. Soark reader's interest, draw
them in and provide them with a link to your articles for more
information.
Social Networking Sites
Here's a list of social networking sites that you can join for free,
make friends and market your articles on.
Myspace
Flickr
Friendster
Gather
LibraryThing
LiveJournal
Meetup
Reunion
Shelfari
Classmates
Xanga
The nice thing about marketing through social network websites is that
they vary in topic. Though some sites are open to anyone and mainly
attract young visitors, most sites are specific about the audience
they cater to. Some networking sites are specifically for writers,
some are for book lovers and some are specifically for finding people
with common interests to meet up with.
You can use this information to better target your article marketing
strategy. Decide who your target audience will be and join social
networking sites that attract those types of people.
Presenting Yourself on Social Networking Sites
The other nice thing about marketing on social networking sites is the
ability to personalize your page. When friends visit your page they
will see your picture along with your personal profile. These offer
you a certain degree of credibility. You're no longer just a sales
person, but another person just like them. They are more likely to
trust your opinion on a product if you peer to be similar in nature.
Use your image spot wisely by posting a professional image or your own
picture. Posting cartoons or unrelated images can effect how people
perceive you on the Internet. Keep in mind that the goal is to draw
their attention in and hope that they will click on the link to your
articles to increase your sales.

Social networking is rapidly becoming the most preferred Web 2.0
marketing tool. If you are engaged in selling your products or
services online, there is plenty you can do with social networking
sites to promote your business. However, the possibilities are
accompanied by inevitable pitfalls. Here are a few things to keep in
mind in order to raise your effectiveness when using social networking
sites. Rule #1 - One site or many: While many organizations prefer to
maintain their presence on several social networking sites, it can
take up considerable amount of time as well as staff resources.
Determine the amount of time you can spend updating your profile on
each site. It's far more effective to spend extra time and energy
maintaining a high profile on one, well-chosen site rather than spend
precious hours juggling different operating platforms on too many
different sites. If you do choose to maintain a presence on multiple
sites, make sure you assign a full-time staff to regulate your various
profiles. This could include posting comments on other member's pages,
inviting other people to become friends, or accepting other friend's
requests. In the absence of regular care, your web page is sure to
languish.
