With the boom of today’s worldwide web, Internet marketing is
taking off.  Progressive companies are taking Internet marketing to
the next level. Virtually everyone has access to the Internet, giving
marketers the ability to reach new customers many miles from their
current location.  An effective Internet marketing campaign allows
a business to promote its products and services to the whole world.
Given universal access to customers worldwide, Internet marketing is
the scene of expanding competition â€" one where the little guys
can compete economically with the big boys.  But in order to
compete, even the smallest entrepreneur needs to develop an effective
Internet marketing plan. In this article, you will see three steps to
your online marketing success.

1. *Develop Your Product*

Let’s not put the cart in front of the horse.  Before you
start your Internet marketing campaign, you need to have a product or
service that is scalable and easily deliverable. If you are able to
find a unique product it will give you an advantage in the online
marketing world.  Not only can you have a website up and going in a
few days but so can everyone else.  Competition can be
ruthless.  As you develop your product search for something that is
unique and easily replicated.

As a product developer, use your imagination and skills.  Do what
*you* do best.  Everybody is good at something.  So take
advantage of that “something,” and develop a great product
or service to market.

2. *Develop Your Website*

As an Internet marketer your website is crucial to your success. 
Your website’s only purpose is to sell your product. Everything
contained in the website should focus on converting your online
marketing traffic to customers.

Simply putting a website on the Internet will not bring you any
success.  You must have a strategy on how you are not only going to
get visitors to your site but the correct type of visitors.  Online
marketing is about having your website show up when potential
customers are searching for your product.

3. *Develop Your Strategies*

To develop a successful Internet marketing campaign, you need both a
short-term and long-term marketing strategy.

The short-term Internet marketing strategies should get you started,
giving you temporary traffic. These Internet marketing strategies
include participation in forums, pay per click, email marketing, and
purchasing ads on various sites to name a few. These methods can boost
your traffic, but can be time consuming and costly.  As a good
Internet marketer you should test the website through short-term
marketing methods, if the site proves to be successful you can
continue with long-term strategies.

Long-term Internet marketing strategies can give you consistent
targeted traffic. These strategies include article marketing,
blogging, and social networking sites, and other search engine
optimization techniques.

Using this three-step approach and optimizing all three steps will
enhance your Internet marketing success.
